Bicycle Enforcement Policy
(last revised Nov. 6, 2012)
Bicycles on campus have been parked and locked to objects other than bicycle racks. This policy clarifies that all bicycles are to be parked in a bicycle rack. Any bicycles that are secured to anything besides a bicycle rack may receive fines and/or be confiscated by Campus Safety and Security or Facilities and Service Management.
Campus Safety and Security will enforce the bicycle policy.
- Campus Safety and Security will place a warning tag at the back of the bicycle seat for the owner to see that s/he is in violation of the bicycle policy.
- An image may be taken and other information documented for Campus Safety and Security records if the bicycle is still present 24 hours later.
A bicycle owner will have 24 hours to relocate his/her bicycle to a proper bicycle rack to avoid confiscation of the bicycle.
Removal of the Bicycle
If Campus Safety and Security discovers the same bicycle in violation of the bicycle policy 24 hours later, Campus Safety and Security will notify Facilities and Service Management to remove the lock and remove the bicycle.
Facilities and Service Management will have possession of the bicycle until the owner reclaims his or her bicycle.
